In 2012, a case was filed against him and his wife Manimekalai for adding more assets to their income. hile the trial of the case in the Srivilliputhur district Chief criminal court has been going on for almost 10 years, minister Thangam Tennarasu has filed a petition seeking the release of himself and his wife from the case. In this case, on december 13, 2022, Chief criminal court Judge Christopher, Srivilliputtur, gave a verdict freeing minister Thangam Thennarasu and his wife Manimekalai from the case of wealth accumulation.
