For the years 2023–2025, the telangana Excise Department issued a tender notice for liquor establishments. For the same, there was fierce rivalry. The excise agency has now discovered that an Andhra Pradesh-based real estate firm invested over Rs 100 crores in this lucky draw mechanism to obtain the liquor licence.

It is believed that this unidentified AP-based firm, which specialises in permanent assets management, has already established itself in the telangana spirits market, as shown by their massive expenditure of Rs. 100 crores. 110 liquor licence transactions have been gained by the organisation using the fortunate draw lottery mechanism. The business has also been savvy in its targeting of places outside of Hyderabad. They have targeted places like Saroornagar, Shamshabad, and other outlying locations.

It has become a major subject because an AP-based corporation has invested so extensively in Telangana's spirits industry while abandoning their own state. In any case, telangana benefits from this. Without selling a single drink, the telangana Excise Department was able to collect Rs 2,639 crore. Nearly 1.32 lakh applicants paid the sum in application fees for the allocation of 2,620 liquor stores in the state. The new liquor policy for 2023–25 set the application cost at Rs 2 lakh.
