Reportedly when attacking chief minister Eknath Shinde, bjp National Secretary Pankaja Munde on thursday said, Maratha

reservation cannot be given by making statements. He said, it will have to face legal and constitutional test.

Also, Pankaja Munde, who travels to districts to visit important temples under Shivshakti yatra (ten-day

pilgrimage), spoke to the media in Kolhapur on Thursday.

On Wednesday, cm Eknath Shinde had said, 'The cabinet has decided to issue Kunbi caste certificates to

those Marathas of Marathwada region who have revenue or education documents of Nizam era. According to

the indian Express, while answering a question on the reservation controversy, he said, "A complex issue like

maratha reservation cannot be resolved through statements. She further said, "I have been continuously saying

that Marathas should get reservation. To do this an expert committee should be formed. maratha organizations

should be taken into confidence and adequately consulted in the process.

What did cm Shinde say?

Shinde said Kunbi has been classified under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category in the state. The Chief

minister said that people belonging to the maratha community in Marathwada, whose status as Kunbi is

mentioned in the revenue and education documents of the Nizam era, will get Kunbi certificates. The

Marathwada region was part of the erstwhile hyderabad kingdom before becoming part of Maharashtra.

While Shinde said, a five-member committee headed by Justice sandeep Shinde (retd) to determine the

standard operating procedure (SOP) including the legal and administrative framework for giving caste

certificates to members of the maratha community called Kunbis in Nizam era documents Will do The

committee will submit its report in a month.
