Union Law minister Arjunram Meghwal tabled the bill in the lok sabha after the Union cabinet approved the bill to provide 33 percent reservation for women in the lok sabha and state legislatures.
Subsequently, the debate on the Women's Seat Reservation Bill is going on in both the Houses of Parliament. In that way, during the debate held in rajya sabha today, DMK rajya sabha MP who spoke in support of the bill. kanimozhi N.V.N. Somu listed the programs implemented by the DMK for the advancement of women and questioned the motive of the bjp government in bringing this bill. If the concern for women is true for bjp then it is demanded that this bill should be implemented immediately and when will the reservation bill for women be implemented? Is the law? He also asked a barrage of questions.
Regarding this, he said on his X page, "I have decided, when is the wedding?" He posted that he concluded his speech with the question. Earlier, the Women's Reservation Bill was introduced in parliament for the first time in 1996. Later, the bill was brought back when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. At that time the bill was not passed. For the first time this bill was passed in the rajya sabha during the manmohan singh regime. However, the bill was not passed in the Lok Sabha. In this background, many people are welcoming the fact that this bill has been filed. However, it is stated in the bill that the system of providing 33 percent reservation for women will come into effect only after implementation of population census and constituency re-delimitation. Thus, it is pointed out that this bill will take many years to come into effect and the political representation of tamil Nadu is likely to decrease through constituency re-delimitation.
