Telangana State has always made significant contributions to indian sports. The State athletes are ready to shine in the continental display with medal-winning performances as the 19th Asian Games get underway officially on Saturday. Nine of the 12 competitors from the State who would represent their country in the Games in Hangzhou were female athletes.
Boxer Nikhat Zareen, the current World Champion, will spearhead the medal push when she enters the ring in the 50 kg division. The boxer from nizamabad is expected to win a medal. She has won the world championship twice. The boxer became just the seventh indian woman to win gold in the Senior World Championships in 2022. The pugilist from nizamabad continued her impressive form after showcasing her skills at the World Championships by winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and then the gold medal at the National championship in Bhopal.

Nikhat demonstrated her talent once more while competing in her second Elite World Championships, winning the second straight gold medal at the 2023 IBA Women's World Championships. She also became just the second indian woman to win two gold medals at the World Championships. She intends to do well at the Asian Games in order to secure a spot in the paris Olympics.
Soumya Guguloth, a different nizamabad girl, will play for india in the women's football. The striker, who also plays in the middle of the pitch, made history last year when she became the only female football player from either of the Telugu-speaking States to represent the nation.

She became the first player from croatia to sign with Dinamo Zagreb, giving her the experience she needs to excel on the world stage.

At the Commonwealth Games last year, she and seasoned table tennis star sharath Kamal had earned the nation's first-ever mixed doubles gold medal.

The Grandmaster from Warangal, arjun Erigaisi, is an essential part of the strong indian chess squad. He is one among the stars of the future with a FIDE rating of 2712. In the individual men's event, which will be conducted in a quick style, arjun will compete. He will compete in the team competition alongside G Gukesh, Vidit Gujrathi, P Harikrishna, and R Praggnanandhaa.

When the indian cricket team, which is certain to win gold, reaches the pitch, all eyes will be on hyderabad player T Thakur Tilak Varma. The tournament will feature cricket for the first time, and left-handed player Tilak will play a significant role in India's top-order. The gifted swimmer from hyderabad, Vritti Agarwal, has already made history by being the first-ever telangana State swimmer to qualify for the Asian Games. The 16-year-old teenager is recognised in India's 4200 freestyle relay event. His favourite events are the 400, 800, and 1500 metres freestyle. She qualified for the indian team by doing well in the 76th Senior National Aquatic Championship. She is talented despite being only 16 years old.

In addition to them, Sikki reddy and gayatri Gopichand from the badminton squad will represent india in the women's doubles competitions and team competitions. The other State competitors are geetanjali in coxed eight rowing, A Nandini in women's heptathlon, Sanjana in figure skating, and Preeti Kongara in 470 mixed sailing.
