In the literary world, Omprakash Valmiki is counted among the great Dalit litterateurs. He was born in Barla

village of muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. His early life was spent in many difficulties. During his

studies he had to face many economic, social and mental troubles. Om Prakash Valmiki is a famous Dalit writer.

He writes in hindi language. His autobiography Joothan explains his experiences as a Dalit.

His story Juthan is quite famous in the hindi world. The Department of Official language has written in detail

about Om Prakash Valmiki, the author of Thakur Ka Kuan. According to this, Premchandra's Dalit writings had

a deep influence on Omprakash Valmiki. He has given a vivid description of caste insult and oppression in his

writings.

James Edwards, Manager of South, Middle east and Africa, Global Victoria, writes - Omprakash Valmiki has

not used verbs in the poem Thakur Ka Kuan, but then he has described the relationship between Dalit and upper

castes in rural India. Edwards further writes - The way Valmiki has written Thakur's Well by using analogies is

unique. According to Columbia university Press, Valmiki has played an important role in the promotion of Dalit

literature.
