Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot met senior bharatiya janata party (BJP) leader Suryakanta Vyas at his
residence late on monday night. Gehlot completed his two-day campaign from Sardarpura seat. He is contesting
from this seat. After this, he reached Vyas’s residence here at around 12.30 in the night and stayed there for about
15 minutes. Vyas is a three-time mla from Sursagar seat. She reached the assembly by winning elections from
this seat in 2008, 2013 and 2018. Speaking to reporters on tuesday morning before leaving to attend party leader
Priyanka Gandhi’s meeting in Jhunjhunu, Gehlot called it a courtesy call.
Gehlot said, “He has served jodhpur for a long time. He has played a long innings. So I met him to express my
respect towards him.” bjp has not given ticket to 85-year-old Vyas for the assembly elections to be held on
November 25. bjp has given ticket to Devendra Joshi in his place from Sursagar seat. According to party
leaders, Vyas has not been given the ticket because of his age. Gehlot claimed that Vyas had praised his work,
hence his ticket has been canceled. The chief minister said that bjp should have shown decency.
'There are other leaders in bjp who are of this age'
He said, “He did not get the ticket because he praised me and my work. It is not bad to praise someone's work.
BJP should have shown some decency.” Gehlot says that if development is taking place in jodhpur, it will
ultimately benefit the state. He said that if someone appreciates it then there should be no prejudice towards him.
Gehlot rejected the suggestion that Vyas was not given the ticket because of his age. He claimed that there are
other people of his age in bjp who have got tickets.
