Prime minister Narendra Modi will address an election rally in Kanker district of Bastar region on
Thursday. This is prime minister Modi’s first election rally in congress ruled chhattisgarh state after the
announcement of elections in the state. bharatiya janata party (BJP) officials said that Prime Minister
Modi will address a meeting in Kanker district on Thursday.
He told that the prime minister will reach raipur airport by indian Air Force plane at 1:55 pm on Thursday
and will leave for Kanker by helicopter. He told that the Prime Minister’s rally will be held in Kanker city
at 3 pm. police officials said that the venue of the event has been cordoned off under extensive security
cover. Kanker is located at a distance of about 150 kilometers from the capital Raipur. In view of the Prime
Minister’s rally, tight security arrangements have been made here.
SPG soldiers deployed
Apart from state police, paramilitary forces, Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel have been deployed
for the security of the program. assam Chief minister Himanta vishwa Sharma will also campaign in
Rajnandgaon and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki districts of the state on Thursday. After being in
power in chhattisgarh for 15 years (2003-2018) under the leadership of Raman Singh, bjp had to face
defeat from congress in the 2018 assembly elections.
BJP's attempt to return to power
BJP is now trying to return to power in the state. Voting for the ninety-member state assembly will be held
in two phases on november 7 and 17. Voting will be held in the first phase in seven districts of Naxal-
affected Bastar division and 20 seats in Rajnandgaon, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Kabirdham and
Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai districts and in the second phase on the remaining 70 seats. Counting of
votes will take place on december 3.
