In that regard, Nazareth Basilian, Deputy Secretary of DMK State Fisherman's Team from Kanyakumari district met Edappadi Palaniswami today and joined AIADMK. AIADMK former minister Thalai Sundaram was also present during this meeting.

After this, he went to the DMD and was given state-level responsibility. Later, due to differences in the party, he left the DMD and joined his supporters in the DMK. Austin, who contested the 2016 assembly election from Kanyakumari constituency and won on behalf of DMK, contested again in the 2021 election from the same constituency. However, Dalavai was defeated by Sundarath.
