He won his first world title in this competition in 2005. Advani has won the 'long format' for the ninth time. In this tournament, Advani defeated indian teammate Rupesh Shah by 900-273 in the semi-finals. It saw breaks of 259 and 176 from the defending champion, while Shah saw only 62 breaks in the 900-up format. In the other semi-final, Sourav Kothari defeated Indian-origin dhruv Silvala 900-756.


Specially, exactly 20 years ago on this day, pankaj advani won his first World championship title in China. Now he has won the title for the 26th time on the same day.
