Congress leader Devendra Bahadur Singh (63) is the second royal scion of congress who had to face defeat from
Basna seat this time. He belongs to the former Gond royal family of Phuljhar (now in Mahasamund district). BJP’s
Sampat Aggarwal defeated Singh by a margin of 36,793 votes. Singh, a four-time mla, served as minister of
State in the Ajit Jogi-led congress government in chhattisgarh (2000-2003).
Two members of the influential Judeo royal family of Jashpur in Surguja division (North Chhattisgarh) had
contested the assembly elections. This family belongs to the senior bjp leader late dilip Singh Judev. dilip Singh
Judev's father Vijay bhushan Judev was the king of Jashpur royal family and has also been a lok sabha MP. Dilip
Singh Judev served as minister of State for Environment and Forests in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government
at the Centre.
Yudhveer's wife Sanyogita also lost
His son Yudhveer Singh Judeo has been mla twice from Chandrapur seat adjacent to bilaspur division.
Yudhveer's wife Sanyogita Singh has faced defeat from Chandrapur seat for the second time in a row. In the 2018
assembly elections, Sanyogita Singh had contested from this seat against Congress's ramkumar Yadav but lost.
This time Yadav has again defeated Sanyogita from this seat by a margin of 15,976 votes.
Judev's second son also got defeated
Dilip Singh Judev's second son Prabal Pratap Singh Judev was fielded from Kota seat (Bilaspur district), where he
lost to Congress's Atal Srivastava by a margin of 7,957 votes. renu Jogi, wife of former chief minister Ajit Jogi,
who was the Janata congress chhattisgarh (J) mla from Kota, stood third this time with 8884 votes.
