Haj pilgrims have welcomed the resumption of flight service from chennai to Saudi Arabia's jeddah after 4 years. Saudi airlines operates a direct flight from Meenambakkam Anna international Airport to jeddah, Saudi Arabia. That flight service was canceled in march 2020 due to the corona virus and curfew around the world. Direct flight services from chennai to many areas were started after the corona epidemic ended and normalcy returned.
But direct flights between jeddah have not resumed. Due to this, those going for the holy Umrah journey from chennai and those going for work had to go through Kuwait, Bahrain, dubai and Sri Lanka. Due to this, it takes 13 hours to travel to saudi arabia, so there was a demand to start a direct flight service. indian Haj Association President Abu Bakr requested prime minister Modi to take steps to start direct flights.
In this situation, after 4 years from yesterday, Saudi airlines again started direct flight between jeddah and Chennai. This flight operates 2 days a week. More than 215 Umrah pilgrims went on direct flight service. indian Haj Association President Abu Bakr congratulated them.
Later, indian Haj Association President Abu Bakr told reporters that the direct flight service from chennai to jeddah is operating after many years. A direct flight to jeddah takes 5.50 hours. And 200 Rials to 610 Rials will be saved. For the past 3 years, a request has been made on behalf of the Haj Association of india to start a direct flight from Chennai.

2024 Hajj journey has been 100 percent digitized. 1 lakh 35 thousand Haj applications have been received from all over India. There is still 17 days to submit Hajj applications in tamil Nadu. More than 5 thousand Hajj applications have come in tamil Nadu. He said there are chances that Haj travel quota will be more available this year.
