Presently this method of removing a president is not new in JDU. Like Lalan Singh, RCP Singh, Sharad Yadav and George Fernandez had resigned from JDU. George, Sharad and RCP even had to leave the party. However, this time Nitish did not let anyone know about the removal of Lalan Singh. Before the executive meeting in Delhi, Lalan Singh kept repeating that he would remain the president, but as soon as the meeting started, he resigned.

Meanwhile there was definitely talk in the political circles that if Lalan Singh was removed, he might rebel against nitish kumar like Chandrababu Naidu. In 1995, chandrababu naidu had rebelled in front of NT Rama Rao in a public meeting. Naidu had snatched the government of tdp and andhra pradesh from Rama Rao. However, nothing like this happened in the national executive meeting of JDU. According to sources, Lalan Singh tendered his resignation as soon as the meeting started, after which Vijendra Yadav proposed the name of Nitish Kumar. Lalan supported it.

According to senior journalist and former rajya sabha MP ali Anwar, Lalan Singh did not fit into the new equation created after the caste census. JDU also does not get the votes of the community from which Lalan comes (Bhumihar caste). There is no Bhumihar population in Bihar. ali Anwar further says Lalan Singh has no support base. He is a manager type leader and because of this his stature increased in JDU. To revolt, a mass base is first required. According to Anwar, all the previous presidents in JDU have been like this. Be it Sharad Yadav, RCP Singh or anyone else... no one has the support base in Bihar. From the beginning, Nitish gave place in his kitchen cabinet to such people who had no support base.

According to JDU sources, MPs and MLAs are required for rebellion. MPs and MLAs in the party cannot rebel against nitish kumar to support anyone else. This is the reason why despite Nitish's silent killing, there is no major rebellion in JDU.
