Tamilisai steps down as governor of Telangana?

As rumors circulated that telangana governor tamilisai soundararajan may run for the 2019 lok sabha elections from tamil Nadu, Soundararajan announced her resignation from the constitutional office on Monday, citing her desire to "serve the public directly." According to an official statement, Soundararajan, who was also Puducherry's lieutenant governor, resigned from both positions and tendered her resignation to President Droupadi Murmu. "With immediate effect, Dr. tamilisai soundararajan, the honorable governor of telangana and lieutenant governor of Puducherry, has offered her resignation. The communiqué stated, "The resignation has been submitted to the Honorable President of India."

Soundararajan served as the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) tamil Nadu branch for five years prior to her appointment as Telangana's governor in november 2019. She ran as a bjp candidate from Thoothukudi in the most recent lok sabha elections, however she was defeated by kanimozhi of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).  A person with knowledge of the situation, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that Soundararajan informed prime minister Narendra Modi on saturday that she wished to get back into active politics.

She may run from Thoothukudi, Puducherry, or chennai Central. The bjp national leadership must give her the go-ahead, the source continued. Soundararajan stated that she chose to leave her positions of authority and that she wished to engage in "intense public service." "There was no coercion to step down." I quit voluntarily because I wanted to work directly with the public. "After reaching chennai, I want to get involved in intense public service," she declared. On whether she would run in the next general elections, she remained silent.  "First, I need my resignation to be accepted. Let that take place, and I'll tell you about my future intentions later," she added.
