Congress has announced its candidate for the by-election from Dharamshala assembly constituency. After a long brainstorming, congress has made Devendra Singh Jaggi its candidate. Devendra Singh Jaggi has been the mayor of Dharamshala Municipal Corporation.

Congress has already announced candidates for the by-elections of other five seats, but here congress had to face a tough task in finding candidates against former Urban Development minister Sudhir Sharma. Finally, now the party has given ticket to Devendra Singh Jaggi only. His name has been in constant discussion since day one.

Sudhir Sharma had also taunted the Chief Minister

There was a long delay in the announcement of the candidate by congress for the by-election of Dharamshala assembly constituency. Here, there was talk of Rakesh Chaudhary, who contested the elections on bjp ticket in the year 2022, joining the congress and contesting the elections. Sudhir Sharma also took a jibe at chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu due to the delay in tickets. Last two days, Sudhir Sharma had challenged the chief minister to contest the Dharamshala by-election. With the announcement of congress candidate in Dharamshala, now the announcement of congress and bjp candidates on all the seats has been completed.

Elections are going to be held for the fourth time in more than seven years in Dharamshala assembly seat under kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The people of Dharamshala elected their mla in the year 2017, 2019 and 2022 and now on june 1 in the year 2024, the people of Dharamshala will once again vote to elect their new MLA.
