Drugs, liquor, expensive jewellery, free goods and cash have been seized in varying amounts. The commission has given special emphasis to confiscation of narcotics and liquor.


Addressing a study meeting, Chief election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “Joint efforts are the need of the hour to root out the role of drugs in elections and safeguard the future of the youth.” He said that. So far during this election, the value of drugs seized is Rs. 3958 crores. This is 45 percent of the total forfeiture value.


Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu led by Chief election Commissioner rajeev Kumar held meetings with the director General of Narcotics Control. Likewise, due to active participation of Revenue Intelligence Department, indian Coast Guard, State police and other agencies, these two months have led to significant seizure activity.


It is worth noting that in tamil Nadu, where voter registration took place during the first phase of elections, a total of Rs 543.72 crore worth of cash, gifts, liquor and drugs were confiscated during the raids.
