Prevention is better than cure of heat wave...

Haryana government has issued advisory to prevent heat wave. Gurugram DC and Chairman of district Disaster and Management Authority Nishant Kumar Yadav said that the risk of heat stroke increases due to hot gusts of wind and increased temperature. He said that tourists, players, children, elderly and sick people are more afraid of getting heatstroke in the sun. Prevention is better than cure. He appealed to the people to follow the government's advisory. Nishant Kumar Yadav said that for weather related news listen to radio, watch TV, read newspapers. In summer, wear light colored loose cotton clothes, keep your head covered, use clothes, hat or umbrella. Drink adequate amount of water even if you do not feel thirsty. Stay refreshed by consuming ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution), home-made drinks like lassi, torani (rice starch), lemonade, buttermilk etc. Do not leave children in vehicles. Children may be at risk of heat stroke.

Avoid going out barefoot. Keep a hand fan with you for relief from heat. Take some rest in between work. Rest under the tree while working in the farm barn. Avoid consuming junk food during the summer season. Eat fresh fruits, salads and home cooked food. Especially do not go in direct sunlight between 12 noon and 4 pm. Contact a doctor if the child experiences dizziness, vomiting, nervousness, severe headache, chest pain, difficulty in breathing.

Protect animals from heat wave like this

DC said that animals should be kept in shade and given adequate amount of drinking water. Do not keep pet food in the sun. Do not keep animals in any closed place. Do not walk the dog on hot surfaces (track, tar road, hot sand).
