The increasing number of vehicles in Himachal's capital shimla is increasing problems like pollution and lack of parking slots. To get rid of this, bicycles are being considered as an option. Earlier, bicycles were rented in Shimla's Lakkar Bazaar and bicycles were used till Sanjauli. The shimla administration is once again considering the plan to build a bicycle track to overcome problems like pollution, parking and traffic jam.

himachal pradesh chief minister sukhwinder singh Sukhu on saturday flagged off the 12th edition of the MTB Himalaya cycle Race organized by the Himalayan Adventure sports and Tourism Promotion Association in collaboration with Himachal Tourism, Heatrex Tires and himachal pradesh Cycling Association under the 'Padal Nahi To Padal Sahi' campaign.

The MTB Himalaya cycle Race will be held on 18 May 2025 via the 'Prolong-Heritage Ride (Ridge-IIAS-Ridge), Kufri-Chail (XCM), Shimla-Summer Hill-Porter's Hill (XCO) route. More than 100 cyclists from across the country are participating in this competition, including national champions and world-class cyclists.

cm sukhwinder singh Sukhu said that the state government is making serious efforts to promote adventure sports. Cycling tracks are being identified at various places in the state, some of which will also be built in Shimla. He said that an ice skating rink is being built in shimla at a cost of Rs 37 crore, which will promote tourism. Apart from this, the circular road of shimla is being widened, which will help in solving the traffic problem in the city.
