
Five days after the tragic accident of air india flight AI-171 in ahmedabad, gujarat on june 12, i.e. on june 17, the latest figures of the bodies of the dead have come out. Hospital officials have so far confirmed the matching of dna reports of the bodies of 132 people, including former gujarat Chief minister Vijay Rupani.
Out of these, the bodies of 97 dead have been handed over to their families. This accident was shocking to the country and now the process of identification and handing over of the bodies is progressing rapidly.
Work on identification of the dead in the accident continues
According to the Civil Hospital, the work of identification of the dead in the accident is being done on a priority basis. A total of 131 family members have been contacted so far. Out of the 132 bodies which have been confirmed by dna, 76 bodies have already been handed over to the families.
Out of 43 bodies, 14 will be handed over to the families today. The scene of the accident was so horrific that it is not possible to identify the bodies without DNA. That is why the identification and legal process of some of the remaining 43 bodies is still pending, which is being completed, out of which 14 more bodies will be handed over to their families today on tuesday (17 June). Officials informed that all the bodies are being handed over on the basis of dna matching, so that there is no scope for confusion or mistake. The families of the deceased are being given necessary support and condolences. Officials of the 1200-bed ahmedabad Civil Hospital are going to hold a press conference on wednesday in this entire matter, in which final updates will be shared. The administration has also ensured that the bodies are delivered to their families respectfully and there is no technical or administrative delay.
