Chennai, Dec. 9 — tamil Nadu chief minister M. K. Stalin on monday (8.12.2025) laid the foundation stone for the construction of 23 Chief Minister’s mini Stadiums across the state. The event took place at the secretariat and was organized under the youth Welfare and sports Development Department through the Tamil Nadu sports Development Authority.
These mini stadiums will be established across 23 assembly constituencies in tamil Nadu, with a total project cost of ₹69 crore. The initiative aims to enhance sports infrastructure, encourage young talent, and promote physical fitness and sports culture at the grassroots level.
The chief minister highlighted that improved sports facilities in every region are essential for nurturing future athletes and ensuring equal access to training and recreation. He emphasized that the new mini stadiums would provide quality spaces for multiple sports activities, benefiting school children, youth, and local sports clubs.
Each stadium is expected to include essential infrastructure such as:
· Athletic tracks
· Indoor sports facilities
· Seating arrangements for spectators
· Training rooms and basic amenities
· Multi-purpose courts for games like volleyball, basketball, and kabaddi
Officials from the youth Welfare and sports Development Department and representatives from the sports Development Authority of tamil Nadu participated in the ceremony. They stated that the projects would be completed on a priority basis and would significantly boost sports development across the state.
The foundation-stone ceremony marks another major step in tamil Nadu’s ongoing efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and encourage young athletes to excel at district, state, national, and international levels.
