DMDK Joins DMK Alliance Ahead of tamil Nadu Elections
The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has officially joined the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) alliance ahead of the upcoming tamil Nadu assembly elections.
DMDK General Secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth met with DMK Chief and chief minister M. K. stalin to formalize the alliance.
Premalatha Vijayakanth stated that the alliance should have happened much earlier, signaling a closer relationship with the DMK moving forward.
DMDK’s Political History
The late actor Vijayakanth founded the DMDK party; he passed away in 2023 due to COVID-19.
In 2021, DMDK contested the tamil Nadu assembly elections independently but failed to win any seats.
In the 2024 lok sabha elections, DMDK allied with All india Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), contesting five seats but did not secure a victory in any constituency.
