The Delhi government has launched the Pink Saheli Smart Card, a new digital travel card designed to ease mobility for women and transgender commuters across the city. This card replaces the older paper‑based pink tickets previously used for free travel on public buses.
The card lets eligible women and transgender residents travel free of cost on delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses — and in many cases also works across other transport systems under a unified wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital travel system.
👩🦰 Who Can Get the Card?
The pink Saheli Smart Card is available to:
- Women residents of Delhi
- Transgender individuals
- Persons aged 12 and above with valid Delhi residency documentation
To get the card, applicants must verify their identity and domicile through documents like Aadhaar and mobile number registration.
💳 How the Card Works
The card acts as a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) — a smart travel card that can be tapped for public transport journeys. Aside from free bus rides, it also enables paid travel on systems such as the Delhi Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) using a single card.
Each card is linked to your Aadhaar and mobile number, enabling easier verification and tracking of journeys — boosting both convenience and safety.
📍 Distribution and Rollout
The card distribution began recently from around 50 designated centres across delhi, including district Magistrate offices, sub‑divisional offices and select DTC depots. women are being issued their pink Saheli cards free of cost on the spot after verification.
On the first day of rollout alone, over 3,600 pink Saheli cards were issued to eligible women residents, showing strong initial interest in the scheme.
🚌 Benefits of the pink Saheli Smart Card
✅ Easier and Safer Travel
The card eliminates the need to collect physical pink slips from bus conductors, making boarding faster and touch‑free — which also reduces awkward interactions.
✅ Free bus Rides
Eligible cardholders can travel free on DTC and cluster buses across the city — easing daily commuting costs for students, professionals and homemakers alike.
✅ Single Card for Multiple Services
Because it’s built on the NCMC platform, the same card can be used on buses, trains, metro and other transport services where accepted. This simplifies travel and reduces the need to carry different tickets or tokens.
✅ Digital and Inclusive System
The smart card replaces the older physical pink ticket system — helping authorities better monitor usage, prevent misuse and maintain wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital records of commuter journeys.

It reflects a growing emphasis on safe, affordable and technology‑driven transport options — something that can significantly impact women’s daily lives, from education and employment to general independence and safety.
