Sources from Kerala have stated that the southwest monsoon has arrived in Kerala on June 8th and the news was declared by India Meteorological department (IMD) and it has covered most parts of Kerala and Tamilnadu and some parts of south interior Karnataka.


The monsoon has also further advanced over many parts of south Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Maldive Comorin area and some parts of south Bay of Bengal and some more parts of central Bay of Bengal.


IMD has also released that conditions are favorable for further advance of south west monsoon over some parts of central Arabian Sea and Coastal Karnataka, remaining parts of Kerala and Tamilnad and some parts of south interior Karnataka, some parts of South Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.


The monsoon is anticipated to give above normal rainfall in 2016, which will speed up sowing of key kharif crops like pulses, oilseeds, maize and coarse grains and also help solve drinking water shortages in many parts of the country.
