The Qualifier 1 of Vivo IPL 2018, between Chennai super kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, began with the sunrisers batting first. While openers Dhawan and Goswami were dismissed early, skipper Kane Williamson tried to resurrect the innings before departing for 24(15).
With Yusuf Pathan 24(29) and Brathwaite 43*(29b, 1x4,4x6) alone trying to forge a stand, Sunrisers Hyderabad limped to a meager 139/7, Bravo claiming 2/25 and Ngidi getting 1/20. Chennai super kings began disastrously, as they lost opener Watson, Raina and Rayudu early with the team reeling at 24/3.
However, despite wickets falling at one end, the other opener Faf Du Plessis kept the score ticking, scoring runs regularly and coming to form at the right time, as he scored fours and sixes regularly in the company of Deepak Chahar 10(6) and Shardul Thakur 15*(5). Ultimately, Du Plessis scored a perfect match winning 67*(42b, 5x4,4x6), leading CSK to 140/8 with 5 balls to spare.
