The talented batsman virat kohli recounted the day when he decided to step down as Test captain in january 2022 following the series against south africa and claimed that only former indian captain ms dhoni texted him in response to his choice. In a post-Asia Cup media conference on Sunday, kohli said, "When I left Test captaincy, I only received a text from one person that I had played with previously, and that is MS Dhoni."

"A lot of people have my phone number, and a lot of people keep making recommendations on TV, but I haven't heard from any of them. As a result, when a relationship with somebody is sincere enough, it manifests itself in this way because both parties feel secure. Neither I nor him have any desires for anything from the other. And neither he nor I ever harboured any kind of insecurity against one another, kohli continued. He added that if someone had been genuinely interested in assisting him, they would have gotten in touch with him.

"They could have sent me a personal message if their criticism was sincere. Since I live my life honestly, I would have had a one-on-one conversation with the person I wished to assist." In a T20I match against pakistan earlier on Sunday, kohli tied the record for most fifties. kohli scored his 32nd fifty in a T20I. (60 off 44). It was Kohli's fourth T20I half-century against Pakistan. At the same location and during the same ICC Men's t20 world cup game last year, he also scored a half-century against Pakistan.
