Celebrate Valentine's Day by hugging a cow..!?

The politics in the name of a cow in North india is creating a big controversy. In this country where many people eat beef as food, various restrictions have been imposed on its consumption. About 80 million Indians, including more than 12 million Hindus, eat beef, according to the central government. However, laws have been enacted to restrict the sale of beef in 20 states of the country. Going one step further, the supreme court ruled in 2005 that state laws passed to regulate beef would be enforceable.
In this context, attacks on Muslims and Dalits for allegedly selling beef increased after 2014. Offering cows has become a part of Hindu culture. As the situation is like this, the Animal Welfare Board of india has requested that february 14, which is celebrated as Valentine's Day all over the world, should be celebrated as cow slaughter Day. The demand was made citing the important role that cows play in indian culture and the rural economy. Similar to yoga Day, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, along with the Animal Welfare Board of india, has taken an initiative to observe cow Hugging Day to promote indian culture. In a statement released by the Animal Welfare Board of india, keeping in mind the importance of the mother cow and making life happy and full of positive energy, all cow lovers should celebrate 14th february as Hug cow Day.
Vedic traditions are almost on the verge of extinction due to the heavy impact of western culture. Therefore, the Board appeals to citizens to celebrate cow Hugging Day to preserve and promote the country's heritage. Bikram Chandravanshi, Legal Adviser, Animal Welfare Board of india, said that the objective behind celebrating cow Hugging Day is to encourage people to be kind to cows and indian culture. The aim is to spread awareness about the benefits of cows and bring back those who are slowly drifting away due to the influence of western culture, he said. This announcement has been made at a time when the right wing is constantly making comments against Valentine's Day as an influence of Western culture.
