Malai Paneer is a classic North indian dish known for its rich, creamy texture and subtle spices. It’s perfect for festive meals, special dinners, or when you want a comforting, indulgent vegetarian dish.

🥘 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the Paneer:

250 gms fresh paneer (cubed)

2 tbsp oil or ghee

For the Gravy:

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

2 medium onions, finely chopped or pureed

2 medium tomatoes, pureed

1/4 cup fresh cream (malai)

1/4 cup milk

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp garam masala

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

👩‍🍳 Method

1 Prepare the Paneer

Heat 2 tbsp oil or ghee in a pan.

Lightly sauté paneer cubes until golden on all sides. Set aside.

2 Make the Gravy

In the same pan, add butter and cumin seeds; let them splutter.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté until aromatic.

Add onion puree and cook until golden brown.

Stir in tomato puree, turmeric, coriander powder, and red chili powder. Cook for 5–6 minutes until the oil separates.

3 Add Cream and Milk

Reduce flame and add fresh cream and milk.

Mix well to get a smooth, creamy gravy.

Simmer for 3–4 minutes.

4 Combine Paneer and Spices

Add sautéed paneer cubes to the gravy.

Sprinkle garam masala and adjust salt.

Cook on low heat for 3–5 minutes so paneer absorbs the flavors.

5 Garnish and Serve

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.

🌟 Tips for Perfect Malai Paneer

Use fresh homemade paneer for the softest texture.

Adjust creaminess by adding more or less cream according to taste.

For a richer flavor, add a pinch of kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) while simmering.

Avoid overcooking paneer—it becomes rubbery.

Malai Paneer is creamy, flavorful, and melts in your mouth, making it a favorite for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
