K.T. Rama Rao, the minister of information technology for Telangana, said on monday that hyderabad outperformed Bengaluru in terms of new IT jobs created in 2017. 1.46 lakh of the 4.50 lakh IT-related jobs that were generated in india last year were in Bengaluru. During a meeting with leaders in the IT sector, hosted by the hyderabad Software Enterprises Association, the minister claimed that hyderabad "surpassed Bengaluru as the city added 150,000 employment" (HYSEA).
KTR, as the minister is known, also made note of the fact that hyderabad outperformed Bengaluru in terms of office space absorption for eight consecutive quarters. One million of the five million people employed in the IT sector, according to him, are from Hyderabad. He noted that during the course of the last eight years, the number of workers in Telangana's IT sector increased from 3.23 lakh to 8.7 lakh, and the state's IT exports increased from Rs 57,000 crore to Rs 1.83 lakh crore.
