In recent research, the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) stated that the speed of COVID-19 immunization in india is exceedingly poor compared to the US, warning that if the pace is not quickened, daily new case numbers might reach 6 lakh per day during the third wave. It should be mentioned that the NIDM is part of the Union Ministry of home Affairs (MHA).

"Expanding immunization could considerably hinder the formation of a third wave, but only about 7.7% (10.5 crores) of the population is fully vaccinated... According to a recent study conducted by professors and alumni of Pandit Deendayal Energy university (PDEU) in collaboration with Nirma university, India's vaccination rate is currently 3.3%, and if this does not improve, the country could see 600,000 cases per day in the next (third) wave" according to the NIDM report. "

However, if the government's proposal to increase this pace by five times (1 crore doses per day) is implemented, india will only experience 25% of the cases (seen in the second wave) during the peak of the third wave" The research also expressed concern about the country's poor immunization coverage among women. “ The percentage of people who have been vaccinated... women receive 855 doses for every 1,000 doses given to men, which is less than India's existing sex ratio of 923 women for every 1,000 men.
