
Heavy rains are expected on november 17 and 18 as the depression in the North andaman Sea is expected to make landfall near Chennai.
According to a press release issued by the Meteorological Department, the prevailing low-pressure area in the northern Andamans will move west-northwest and will form a deep depression on november 18 in south of ap and North tamil Nadu.
The director of the Southern Regional Meteorological Center S. Balachandran said, "Heavy rain is likely in chennai on november 17 and 18 due to this depression."
Heavy showers with thunderstorms at Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipettai, Thiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur and Puthuvai on november 15 and 16.
For chennai, the sky will be overcast for the next 48 hours. Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the city. Heavy rain is expected on november 17 and 18. In the last 24 hours, the maximum rainfall in the state was 12 cm.
In tamil Nadu, heavy rain fell in one place and heavy rain in 16 places. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the mid-western and adjoining south-western Bay of Bengal, coastal andhra pradesh and north tamil Nadu from november 17 to 19 as hurricane-force winds of 40 to 50 kmph and intermittent 60 kmph are expected.

Kanyakumari receives normal rainfall of 3 cm from november 12 to 15. Rainfall is reported. But, so far 28 cm. It has rained. According to the chennai Meteorological Department, this is 9 times higher than normal.
