Due to significant influxes brought on by torrential rains on Friday, authorities on saturday opened the gates of twin reservoirs on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar's two gates were opened by the hyderabad Metro Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) to release floodwater into the musi river, which runs through the city. Osman Sagar's water level was 1,786.65 feet when compared to the FTL of 1790 feet, according to officials.
The reservoir is receiving an inflow of 2,000 cusecs as a result of significant rainfall in its catchment area. Two gates have been opened by the Board to release 1,248 cusecs. In contrast to the FTL of 1763.50 feet, the water level in Himayat Sagar is currently 1760.50 feet. There are 500-cusec inflows into the reservoir. Two gates have been opened by the authorities to discharge 330 cusecs. Residents near the musi river have been warned to stay vigilant since the two reservoirs are anticipated to receive greater inflows.
