The former head of law, policy, and trust at twitter, Vijaya Gadde, who is of indian descent, is accused in the "Twitter Files" by Elon Musk of burying the news of Hunter Biden's laptop on the platform while clearing former CEO Jack Dorsey. The decision to prohibit former US President donald trump and end political advertising on the network was made by Gadde, who abruptly left twitter alongside former CEO Parag Agrawal. She has been employed by twitter since 2011, and as a key executive, she was in charge of the platform's trust and safety, legal, and public policy operations.

Independent journalist and author Matt Taibbi released the "Twitter Files" on the website on saturday without disclosing how he got them, to which Elon Musk responded, "here we go." According to Taibbi, the decision to withhold the information about Hunter Biden's laptop was made at the highest levels of the firm without the knowledge of CEO Jack Dorsey and involved the former head of legal, policy, and trust, Vijaya Gadde. The extent to which things were done without CEO Jack Dorsey's awareness was "an extraordinary subplot of the Twitter/Hunter Biden laptop story," he continued.

Just before the US Presidential elections in october 2020, twitter had blocked a New York Post piece that made unsubstantiated assertions regarding the activities of US President Joe Biden's son Hunter in Ukraine. twitter said that the material was against their "Hacked Materials Policy." Then, Dorsey stated that it was "inappropriate" to block the content without providing additional detail. In november 2020, he was questioned by the US congress regarding the incident. After the turmoil on Capitol Hill in april of this year, Musk for the first time criticised Indian-origin attorney Gadde for blocking exclusive articles on Hunter Biden's laptop.

Musk had written in a tweet that suspending a major news organization's twitter account for publishing an accurate story was obviously extremely inappropriate. The following month, Musk said he received a call from Twitter's legal department, led by Gadde, accusing the tesla CEO of breaking a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) by disclosing that the platform's 100 users made up the sample size for identifying bogus and spam accounts. "Twitter legal just contacted to complain that I revealed the sample size for the bot check is 100, which is against their NDA. This actually took place, "As stated by Musk in a tweet.
