Chief minister M.K.Stalin congratulated on World press Freedom Day. In a post on his twitter page, he said, "On World press Freedom Day, I would like to express my appreciation to all the brave journalists who work tirelessly to keep the fourth pillar of democracy strong despite various attacks and threats." This is what he said in it.

Every year on May 3, World press Freedom Day (WPFD) or World press Day is commemorated to honour the tremendous efforts and achievements of journalists in revealing society's most profound and hidden truths. World press Freedom Day will be observed in 2023 on May 3, Wednesday. Every year, UNESCO observes the day to inform the public about the function of media on a global scale.

To emphasise a particular facet of press freedom, a different topic is selected each year for World press Freedom Day. The theme for 2023 is "Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a driver for All Other Human Rights." When a group of African journalists gathered in namibia for a UNESCO meeting on strengthening an independent and pluralistic press, that is when the idea for World press Freedom Day initially came to be. They proposed making May 3 a global day of recognition and defence of press freedom.
