How ashok kumar Became an Actor
Ashok Kumar’s entry into films was unexpected and purely accidental, echoing the saying:

Born into a family where his father was a lawyer, ashok initially pursued law following his father’s wishes.
After failing in his first year of law practice and fearing his father’s reaction, he left for mumbai to stay with his sister.
His brother-in-law, working at bombay Talkies, helped him secure a job as a laboratory assistant at the studio.
Beginning of His Film Career
While working at bombay Talkies, studio owner Himanshu Rai offered ashok kumar a role in “Jeevan Naiya.”
His family, however, was upset and opposed to his acting, as working in films was socially frowned upon at the time.
Their disapproval even led to the cancellation of his planned marriage.
Rise to Stardom
Ashok Kumar soon achieved remarkable early stardom, starring in numerous classics such as:
Achhut Kanya, Howrah Bridge, Kismet, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Bandini, Bandhan, Jhoola, and Kangan.
His 1943 film “Kismet” became a historic milestone, noted for its record-breaking earnings and for featuring ashok kumar as an anti-hero, making him an overnight superstar.
