Mullah Abdul Salam Zaeef, a senior Taliban leader and former Afghan envoy to pakistan, has cautioned Pashtuns against being embroiled in the conflict between india and Pakistan. Zaeef cautioned that pakistan may attempt to agitate Pashtun populations in the name of Jihad in a scathing post on the social media site X. He urged them not to get involved in the Indian-Pakistani political conflict.

He advised parents to shield their kids from "Pakistan's political games."

These comments coincide with a significant uptick in cross-border violence between india and Pakistan.  India killed 100 terrorists and injured 26 others tuesday night as it launched missile strikes over Pakistani territory.

Growing Divide
The relationship between the Pashtun-majority Taliban and pakistan and india is complex.  They have historically supported Pakistan.

Significant discussion has been generated by Zaeef's statement in regional political circles, underscoring growing apprehension among Pashtun groups in afghanistan regarding Pakistan's potential mobilization of ethnic warriors in its conflict with India.  This could be interpreted as an open acknowledgment of South Asia's internal strife and geopolitical maneuvering.

The Taliban may be reluctant to play a role in the India-Pakistan conflict because they are worried about further destabilizing the area and preserving their authority as Afghanistan's government.

India Today reported that containers of Afghan export goods are becoming stuck at the Wagha border as a result of the escalating conflict between india and Pakistan.

The head of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, Naqibullah Safi, stated that this would have long-term effects on Afghan trade.  Our exports to india depend on the wagah crossing.  Currently, several trucks carrying dried fruit are stalled and waiting to be cleared.
