The new wave of Covid-19 in india has once again rung the alarm bells in everyone's hearts and minds. Seeing the increasing cases of corona across the country, people want to know who is safe from this virus and who is not. When it comes to protection, it cannot be denied that the vaccine has been very helpful in protecting against corona, but now the need for booster dose has also increased. Due to the arrival of new corona variants and increase in cases, many people are asking whether people who have not taken the booster dose can get infected with corona?

Will people without booster dose get corona?

Yes, people who have not taken a booster dose of Covid-19 can get infected with corona in the new wave in India. Experts say that the vaccine is very important and it provides protection, but does not provide complete protection. The arrival of new variants like NB.1.8.1 and JN.1 is worrying people because these viruses spread more easily and can also defeat the immunity built up from the old vaccine or earlier infection.

Who should take the booster dose?

About 73% of people in india have received a booster shot at least once. But only 18% of people have taken the new updated booster, which is specially made for the Omicron variant. Experts advise that the elderly and those who are suffering from any disease should definitely take this updated booster for better protection from the virus.

Former AIIMS director Dr. Randeep Guleria says that the most important thing right now is that those who have not yet received the first or second vaccine should be vaccinated as soon as possible. He says that at present, the necessary information has not been received to give booster (third) dose to common people. But for those who are at greater risk, such as the elderly and those who already have some disease, a booster dose can be beneficial. Dr. NK Arora, head of the group advising the government on vaccination, says that people above 60 years of age and those suffering from serious diseases should definitely take the booster dose, if they have not taken it yet.
