In response to Rapido, Ola, and Uber's unlawful bike taxi operations in hyderabad, the telangana Gig and Platform workers Union (TGPWU) has called for swift action against these ride-hailing companies. The union claims that by allowing private motorcycles to be used for business purposes, these enterprises are nonetheless breaking transportation laws.

Safety, legal concerns raised
Shaik Salauddin, founder of TGPWU, drew attention to purported infractions by these Hyderabad-based app-based services.  Illegally used as taxis are private two-wheelers with white license plates that are intended for individual usage.

According to him, drivers on Rapido, Ola, and uber circumvent required commercial permits, vehicle inspections, and adequate insurance coverage, posing a major risk to passenger safety in Hyderabad.

He further emphasized how telangana loses money as a result of these illicit activities since they avoid paying permission fees and commercial taxes.

Rapido, Ola, uber commission on bike taxis in Hyderabad
Even though uber, Ola, and Rapido take 20–30% of each ride, drivers who are detected face harsh penalties.  "Unemployed youth are misled into thinking this is legal work, and these companies take no responsibility when authorities penalize them," he said.

White-plate bike taxis in hyderabad must be outlawed immediately, Rapido, Ola, and uber must pay steep fines if they permit private vehicles on their platforms, and impacted drivers must find other employment opportunities.
