PIB has denied that the news that food items like Jalebi, Samosa, and Laddu will have health warning labels is fake. It has also been stated that there is no discrimination against indian snacks only. The press Information Bureau (PIB) of the central government has categorically stated that the news that the Union health Ministry has ordered the publication of health warning labels for traditional indian food items like Jalebi, Samosa, and Laddu is completely fake. Recently, some media outlets reported that warning labels like those found on tobacco products should now be included on sweet and savoury items like jalebi, samosa, laddu, vada pav, pakoda, and details about the amount of oil and sugar in them should be mandatory.
The fake news also stated that the Union health Ministry was taking such a step to create awareness about obesity and the diseases caused by it. However, PIB has denied all these reports as untrue. PIB has clarified this on its official X page. "On the advice of the Ministry of health, there are no warning labels on food products sold in shops. And there is no discrimination against indian snacks," the post published by PIB has categorically stated. Therefore, PIB has also requested the public not to believe such false and baseless information. It has also advised to get information only from official and reliable government sources.
