Raj Kumar Goel Takes Oath as Chief Information Commissioner

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to raj Kumar Goel as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC).
The oath-taking ceremony was held in the national capital, New Delhi, on Monday.

A three-member selection committee recommended raj Kumar Goel’s name.
The panel was chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi, in accordance with statutory procedures.

Administrative Background
Raj Kumar Goel is a 1990-batch retired IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre (Arunachal Pradesh–Goa–Mizoram–Union Territories).
He retired on august 31 as Secretary, Department of Justice, under the Ministry of Law and Justice.
He previously served as Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of home Affairs.
Goel has also held several key administrative positions in the central government and the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
