Raj thackeray reached Matoshree after 13 years and wished uddhav thackeray on his birthday. Earlier, on July 5, both the brothers had shared the stage after almost 20 years with the slogan of Marathi identity.

Every day, some or the other upheaval is being witnessed in the politics of Maharashtra. Something similar happened today when MNS chief raj Thackeray reached Matoshree residence in Bandra, Mumbai, to meet his cousin uddhav Thackeray.

It was special because it was uddhav Thackeray's birthday, and there was a heated discussion in the political circles about this meeting since morning. The special thing was that raj Thackeray had reached Matoshree after about 13 years. Before this, he had last visited there in the year 2012.

Raj thackeray had separated from shiv sena in 2006

Let us tell you that raj Thackeray had separated from shiv sena in 2006 and formed maharashtra navnirman sena (MNS). Since then, political and personal differences between the two brothers had come out in the openBut some recent developments have started reducing these distances.

Recently, both the leaders were seen on the same stage in protest against making hindi compulsory till class 5 by the maharashtra government, and with the slogan of Marathi identity. On July 5, 2025, raj and uddhav Thackeray were seen together in the "Vijay Rally" organized at the NSCI Dome in Worli, which stirred up the political equations. In this rally, both the leaders showed unity regarding Marathi identity and highlighted the priority of maharashtra in their speeches.

Uddhav-Raj duo together again

After coming together on this platform, today's meeting has fuelled speculation that the two brothers may contest the upcoming BMC elections together. Uddhav thackeray had said in the rally, "Grain-based panchayats have bridged the gap between us, we have come together to live together," while Raj thackeray added, "Maharashtra is bigger than any fight or dispute."

Will you contest elections together in the future

The answer to this question may become clear in the coming weeks, but today's meeting has made it clear that the ice of relations in the thackeray family is melting. We can hope that this change in political equations can change the picture of power in Maharashtra to a great extent.
