The Pakistani government has announced that it has started the renovation work on the ancestral houses of famous hindi actors dilip kumar and raj kapoor in Peshawar, Pakistan. dilip kumar and raj kapoor, famous actors of indian cinema, were born and raised in Peshawar, Pakistan. dilip kumar (born in 1922 as Mohammad Yusuf Khan) and raj kapoor hail from Peshawar’s famed Qissa Khwani Bazaar area. Both their ancestral houses were declared national heritage monuments—Dilip Kumar’s in July 2014 by prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and raj Kapoor’s subsequently After partition, they migrated to Mumbai, Maharashtra. After entering Bollywood, they became famous as actors and directors. Their ancestral homes in Pakistan's khyber pakhtunkhwa province were declared heritage sites by the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif in 2014.
The responsibility of restoring the buildings to their original state has been entrusted to the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums. The provincial archaeology department plans to convert the houses of dilip kumar and raj kapoor into museums that reflect their real and cinematic lives. A sum of Rs 7 crore has been allocated for this. The restoration work has been initiated as one of the major projects for heritage conservation and tourism development in the province, with the support of the World Bank.
