Prime minister Narendra Modi also responded to US President donald trump from varanasi on saturday (August 02, 2025). PM Modi said that india is going to become the third-largest economy in the world. Trump had called India's economy a 'dead economy' while announcing the tariff. 



PM Modi said, 'Today, the world economy is going through many apprehensions, and there is an atmosphere of instability. In such a situation, the countries of the world are focusing on their interests. India also has to be vigilant about its economic interests. Our farmers, our small industries, and employment for our youth are paramount for us. The government is making every effort in this direction.'


People should take a pledge for Swadeshi: PM Modi 

He said, 'Our government is making every possible effort in the best interest of the country. Those who want the good of the country and want to see India as the third-largest economy in the world, be it any political party, should forget their differences and take a pledge for 'swadeshi' products.

Trump announces 25 percent tariff

On July 31, US President trump announced a 25 percent tariff and extra penalty on all imports from India. A day later, he attacked India-Russia relations. Calling both countries 'dead economies', trump said that he does not care what india does with Russia. 


Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social, "I don't care what india does to Russia. They can crash their dead economies together; it doesn't matter to me."
