The popular actor-turned-politician shared heartfelt remarks during a public interaction, stating he never aspired to become a minister and would have no regrets if asked to step down.
“Even if I have to step down, I have no regrets,” Gopi declared. The comment has ignited discussions in Kerala's political circles, especially as it comes amidst growing speculations of political reshuffles and internal party changes.
Gopi revealed he never prayed or lobbied for a ministerial berth. Instead, his true dream was to continue working in films. He admitted that balancing his passion for acting with his political responsibilities has become increasingly difficult.
He expressed financial concerns, stating his acting career was his main source of income. "I want to earn a living through acting because my children aren't settled yet, and some people depend on my earnings. To help them, my source of income shouldn't be cut off… but right now it's almost gone," he said.
Suresh Gopi disclosed that he had voiced his disinterest in ministerial roles even before the elections. He mentioned informing the media in Kannur, ahead of the elections, that he had no desire for a ministerial post.
Reflecting on his journey with the bjp, he said he joined the party hastily on october 28, 2016. He added that the party had urged him to become a member within six months, and he later became the first bjp mp elected from kerala, which led to his ministerial appointment.
Gopi suggested that appointing C. Sadanandan master as minister could be a progressive step. "If I am relieved of this post and C. Sadanandan master is made a minister, I believe it will be a new chapter in kerala politics," he said.
His willingness to step aside is seen as a strong message within the BJP. The statement highlights not only personal sacrifice but also signals potential leadership transitions and evolving strategies within the party in Kerala.
