Bharti airtel on wednesday increased the minimum prepaid recharge plan to Rs 79. Earlier the plan was price at Rs 49. The official announcement comes a few weeks after airtel reviside its post-paid tariffs. "Airtel has discontinued the Rs 49 entry level recharge plan," the official statement said.

Prepaid packs will now be starting from Rs 79 and the minimum recharge plan offers up to 4 times more talk time in the form of outgoing minutes of usage, along with double data for customers. airtel customers can stay connected for longer on entry-level recharges without worrying about account balance, the company said.

With one paisa per second,  Airtel is offering Rs 64 airtel worth talk time in the new Rs 79 recharge pack. The call tariff will be applicable on both local and STD calls. The plan comes as a bundle with 200MB  data and 28 days validity. The new prepaid tariff will be applicable with effect from July 29.

Prepaid customers account 95% of the total subscribers for the Bharti airtel and similar is the case for rivals reliance Jio and vodafone Idea. airtel is the first telecom to raise plan tariffs and trade experts are of the opinion that other telecom companies will likely to follow the suit. Last week, airtel, for new customers, discontinued its Rs 749 Family Postpaid Plan  and is now offering Rs 999 as the only Family Postpaid Plan with extra data benefits.
