What was the speciality of KD Jadhav?
KD Jadhav was aware of every fun of wrestling. He used to pick up his opponent and throw him on the ground. His head-locking style was superb.
How was the match in the first Olympics?
In his first Olympics, he was pitted against the best and most experienced flyweight wrestlers of the time. Despite being new to the international format, KD Jadhav secured the sixth position. Till that time no one could do this in India.
Never received Padma award
Usually, those who are Olympians are showered with medals. He is the only indian Olympic medalist who never received the Padma Award.
Because of this, the wrestlers were afraid of him
KD Jadhav was very agile. His feet used to run on the pitch in such a way that it was very difficult to catch him. He knew better techniques than the wrestlers of his time.
And because of this gold was missed
KD Jadhav was gearing up to win the gold medal after winning the bronze but he got injured just before the Olympics. His knee was broken in such a way that his career was over. After retiring from the game, he was serving as a police officer.
Award received after 2 decades of death
He died on 14 august 1984. KD Jadhav was awarded the arjuna Award in 2000 for his contribution to wrestling.
