A news channel had an exclusive conversation with the doctor who attended the Monkeypox patient who came from Paschim Vihar, Delhi. Skin specialist, Dr Richa, while sharing her experience, said that when the 31-year-old man reached him, he had a fever for the last four days, and a red rash started appearing on the hands and parts of the genitals. The person suspected that he had chickenpox but when the doctor saw him, he said that he did not have chickenpox and asked to come back for a checkup after giving 5 days of medicine.

How do recognize a patient?

When the patient returned after 5 days, the doctor noticed that the rash has become bigger and had spread on the palm face. The patient told that he has not travelled abroad, although he had returned from himachal pradesh a few days ago. This time Dr also saw all the history of the patient and she understood that these were grains which he has never seen before in her 12 years of practice. These are not chickenpox or smallpox. They suspected that it was monkeypox.

Dr. convinced the patient that it would be monkeypox. She explained to the patient that it is necessary to tell the local government doctor. After this, the district Surveillance Officer was informed, and after that, the patient was shifted to Loknayak Hospital with immediate effect. The patient's sample was sent to the National Institute of Virology, pune and it was confirmed that he had monkeypox.

Meanwhile, Dr had isolated himself for seven days. During this time it is known whether the disease is present or not. She stayed away from her family and work, wearing a mask, gloves and PPE kit while treating the patient. Sanitization was taken care of, so she was saved from infection. According to Dr Richa, if you stay away from the patient, there will be no infection and if you have to stay close, then ask the patient to apply a mask because his spit can also cause infection. Keep everything separate from his clothes, bedding, sheet towels, and bathroom.
