Heavy rains lashed many parts of tamil Nadu, including chennai, from yesterday evening to this morning due to the northeast monsoon. Many parts of chennai are submerged. A red alert has been issued for several districts, including chennai, for heavy rains.

Due to the intensification of the northeast monsoon in tamil Nadu, it is raining heavily in many parts of the state. The rain that started at midnight yesterday in chennai continued throughout the night. 

As a result, rainwater has accumulated on the roads and low lying areas of Chennai.


Most of the tunnels in chennai have been submerged in rainwater. Not only chennai but also its suburbs have been left without rain. Residents of Velachery have parked their vehicles on nearby flyovers as rainwater has accumulated in residential areas.

The electric train service between chennai Beach and tambaram was temporarily disrupted due to heavy rains. Currently, the train service has been disrupted due to slight drainage of water. 

Kolathur, chennai, R.K. Rainwater has seeped into homes in many areas, including the city. chief minister M.K. Stalin, Ministers K.N. Nehru, Sehgar Babu, Chief Secretary Iriyanpu and others visited in person.


Thundershowers will develop at a few places in Tuticorin, Krishnagiri, Tirupati, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai and Kallakurichi districts of tamil Nadu during the next three hours.

Fishermen in the deep sea of the Bay of bengal have been told to return to shore by november 9.


Meanwhile, all the lakes around chennai are reaching their full capacity. It has been announced that Sembarambakkam Lake will open at 1.30 pm today as it is filling up fast. The first phase will open 500 cubic feet of water per second. Sembarambakkam Lake, which is 24 feet high, is currently 21.3 feet high. 


The water supply to the lake is 600 cubic feet per second. As the water supply increases, so do the discharge from the lake.


Four brigades of the National Disaster Rescue Force have been placed on standby due to a severe rain warning. One team each in chennai and Tiruvallur districts and two teams in madurai are on standby. The control room in Arakkonam is monitoring the situation 24 hours a day and is working with the state government administration.
