Notably, for the first time, the RBI is considering using photos of great personalities other than mahatma gandhi on the notes. dilip Shahani, an Emeritus professor at IIT Delhi, has asked mahatma gandhi, APJ Abdul Kalam and rabindranath tagore to select two different sets of watermark samples and submit them to the government for final consideration.


According to information received, it has been sent to the RBI and the Security Printing and Meeting Corporation of India, which is under the Ministry of Finance. professor Shah is a master of watermark detection and electromagnetic instrumentation. According to government sources, in 2017, one of the nine internal committees of the RBI was set up to look into the security features of the new series of notes. He has submitted his report for the year 2020 in which besides gandhi, Tagore and Kalam are also said to have watermarks. It is proposed to include this in all other notes except Rs. 2000 notes. However, no final decision has been made yet. However, watermark samples of all the three have been approved. This is being considered at the government level.
