Notably, for the first time, the RBI is considering using photos of great personalities other than mahatma gandhi on the notes. dilip Shahani, an Emeritus professor at IIT Delhi, has asked mahatma gandhi, APJ Abdul Kalam and rabindranath tagore to select two different sets of watermark samples and submit them to the government for final consideration.

However, no final decision has been made yet. However, watermark samples of all the three have been approved. This is being considered at the government level.
