The first part of the film was released in september 2022, which was liked by the people, in such a situation, people are eagerly waiting for its part 2 (Ponniyin Selvan 2). The cast of the film is fiercely engaged in its promotion. Meanwhile, the film's director mani ratnam has recently said something for which he has come in the headlines. Recently, the director of ponniyin selvan 2 has objected to the hindi film industry calling itself Bollywood.

Veteran filmmaker mani ratnam  is gearing up for the release of his next film ponniyin selvan 2 . Meanwhile, while speaking at the CII South media and Entertainment Summit in chennai recently, he said that the hindi film industry should refrain from using the word 'Bollywood' for itself. With this, films in other indian languages can get their due. mani ratnam said, 'If hindi cinema can stop calling itself bollywood, people will stop recognizing indian cinema as Bollywood.'

In fact, on many occasions, films from the South film industry were called bollywood films. The same happened with rrr when SS rajamouli had to clarify in response to an American journalist that rrr is not a bollywood but a telugu film.


Ponniyin Selvan is going to release on 28th april which is the sequel of ponniyin selvan 1 released last year . The first part was very successful at the box office, so now there are high expectations from its second part as well. ponniyin selvan 1 earned more than Rs 480 crore worldwide. There are many big actors in the film including aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi.
