
Bollywood hollywood actress priyanka chopra reacted to indian student Jaahnavi Kandula’s death which happened in the US. For the unversed, the 23 year old student, who was a resident of andhra pradesh and studying in the US, died in january this year after she was hit by a Seattle police patrol vehicle. A bodycam video revealed that an officer made fun of her death. Sharing a post reporting about Jaahnavi’s death, priyanka called the incident ‘appalling.’
Sharing a post by people on her instagram Stories, priyanka wrote, “It’s appalling to learn that such a tragic incident that happened 9 months ago is only coming to light now. A life is a life. One cannot put any value on it. Priyanka’s dil Dhadakne Do co-star farhan akhtar also reacted to the incident. On instagram, the filmmaker-actor offered condolences to the Jaahnavi’s family. “#JaahnaviKandula. We didn’t know each other but I know that as a student preparing to make a place for herself in the world, your potential was limitless and your value immeasurable. Condolences to your family. RIP," he said
Jaahnavi Kandula was a student of Northeastern university campus in South Lake Union. She was walking close to the Dexter Avenue North and Thomas Street when a police vehicle hit her. Massive outrage sparked after a purported bodycam video in which a police officer was heard mocking her death surfaced online and went viral. In the conversation, an officer is heard saying that the girl’s life was of “limited value" and that the city should write a check.
The Consulate General of india in san francisco called the incident “deeply troubling". In a post on social media site X, the indian Mission in san francisco wrote: “Recent reports, including in media of the handling of Ms Jaahnavi Kandula’s death in a road accident in Seattle in january are deeply troubling. We have taken up the matter strongly with local authorities in Seattle & Washington State as well as senior officials in Washington DC."
